I’m not sure my Christmas Jars story is a typical one. I have loved the book since it came out, and have always loved doing random acts of kindness. I always thought I would start my own Christmas Jar, however, I didn’t until a few months before Christmas this past year. My journey working with children led me to volunteer at a treatment center for juvenile offenders many years ago which led to an actual job after several years.
One day an angel in disguise as a hairstylist came to our facility and started helping with a bible study for our youth run by other volunteers. Anne soon began cutting hair for 60 of our youth free of charge for years, along with free hair products! If there is ever a need, Anne and her clients will find a way to meet it. I can’t even begin to tell you all the ways Anne has helped our facility over the years.
This past year right before Christmas Anne had to have her wrist operated on and would be off work for at least 3 weeks. When I found out, the Christmas Jars story popped into my mind! (Thank you, Lord!) I took up a collection from the staff at the facility and from our Liaison Council (Anne is our president, of course!) and I was able to raise $400.00 in a short amount of time! Of course, I had to make a Christmas Jar for Anne’s dog Charlie who is the sweetest!
