This year was not our first Christmas jar experience but it was definitely the most memorable!!
A family was suggested that might need a little boost and even though we didn’t know them very well we trusted our friends who said that the jar might be the most important thing they would get this whole year.
We had a hard time finding the house at first because our GPS tried to send us to some neighborhood in Australia. Yes!! Australia!!!
So after a few phone calls we got the right address and were happy to see that we would not be getting a plane to deliver our Christmas jar.
So everyone but the driver wanted to come up to the door and it also took a little while to find the family’s apartment #. We were a little alarmed to find it on the second floor and spent more time then we probably should have spent figuring out our escape.
We put the jar down and one of the kids knocked and ran and all the rest of us got a headstart.
One of the kids went the wrong way down the street and then one of the family’s was down the stairs in the middle of the street shouting “I see him I see him!!!!”
My kid crossed the street and tried to be invisible but by then the tears were already flowing hard.
He panicked on where he was supposed to go and rather than wait at the pick up spot he came back down the street looking for our car which was slowed down by being caught in the mud and then having to turn around in a very tight area behind another building.
So meanwhile we brought our dog along and he was barking at somones cat only adding to the commotion.
When our last person finally got back to the car they were almost in hysterics and saying “Well I’m never doing that again!!!!”
We got the detailed play by play and promised that no one had been recognized and that we were safe. By the time we all got home everyone was laughing about our crazy adventure and even the grouchy one said it was worth it all and we would definitely be doing it again after all next year.
That’s the amazing things about the Christmas jar. It’s contagious!!! We all hope the family had a brighter Christmas.
