I am a proud, single, 51 year old mom, of a wonderful 12 year old boy. I have worked since the age of 16 and put myself through college. I was working as a Hospice RN until January 11, 2013 when I had to go into work and tell them, while I sobbed, that I couldn’t work because I couldn’t see. I’ve had some health issues over the past 5 years, and ultimately Graves disease was robbing me of my sight. I had never heard of these jars or of this story. This jar along with the book, was left at my front door at Christmas time.
I have been so blessed with kindness, love and generosity throughout this trying time. My son had given me a scolding about how I needed to stop helping other people, because I was the one who needed help, just prior to us receiving the jar. It was a moving moment for us both. I hope someday soon I can give a jar. But in the meantime I will continue to practice what I preach to him- do something nice for someone else, every day! Thank you.
