Christmas Jars Story: ‘This is our families third year gifting a Christmas Jar’

Petoskey, MI:

This is our families third year gifting a Christmas Jar.  Each year we allow one of our children to be delegated the “picker” of the recepient of the jar.  We help the child start to narrow down the choice late November so we have plenty of weeks to pray for that family.

I am writing today about our experience last year. Our daughter had chosen a friend to give our jar to…single mom, one child still at home, difficult time making the bills.

The night was a snowy evening…we set out to find their apartment building-parking in the next lot so as my husband and other two children could be our “look-out”.  My daughter and I headed out to leave the jar at their door…as we approached we could hear voices behind the door.  We placed the jars infront of the door, knocked, and RAN around the building-dodging behind trees, cars, and a garbage dumpter.  When we finally made it back to our vehicle we were able to join the rest of the family and relay each of our versions of what just happened!

The carload fam said the mom/daughter opened the door, peeked out and looked around for who had left this gift…my daughter was gleeful with joy-she said it was the best night of her life 🙂  The next day she had to hide her smile when her friend tried explaining what was left on their door step!!!

We are anxiously awaiting to deliver our next jar—such an amazing testimony to our own children.
