‘My husband was diagnosed with Glioblastoma’

Chandler, Arizona:

My husband was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (terminal brain cancer) in September of 2011.  He immediately stopped working and had to deal with recovery.  Our daughter attends a christian school and I work full time, so while we weren’t completely without income, our life had dramatic changes.  Additionally, we instantly racked up thousands of medical bills.  While we had good insurance, it adds up quickly for your maximum out of pocket.  Particularly when you are blindsided with an instant lose of income.

On Christmas Eve, we had a ring on our doorbell.  There were eight charges of change on our front doorstep.  We were speechless.  After counting the money, there was over $700 dollars.  That very day I had received a dilinquency notice from one of the hospitals that they were sending us to collections.  Fortunately, I was able to use this money plus some other donated money to pay that one particular hospital bill in full.  It was definitely the most memorable Christmas gift of all time!
